The Unfinished Job

1 Chronicles 27:24 "Joab son of Zeruiah began the census but never finished it because the anger of God fell on Israel. The total number was never recorded in King David's official records."

Have you ever started something, but never finished? Kind of like those projects you would do in school and you had til the end of class to finish and since you were trying so hard to do your best you ran out of time? Or like those cooking shows, where each person has to bake something in a certain amount of time and some people just didn't finish.  Yeah, I think we've all been there.

That feeling of inadequacy rises up taunting you. Leaving you not only with an incomplete job but an incomplete feeling. You had a task to do and didn't finish. Especially if it was assigned by an important person, like a king, and now you feel you let them down.

What do we do now? Well let me tell you what you're supposed to do now ... MOVE ON! What's the use of feeling bad about something you no longer have control over? We can waste our lives in the sea of regrets; drowning ourselves with should've, could've, and would've's. Let it go and move on!

As a believer we need to understand Romans 8:28 "that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love him". So when we find ourselves in an unfinished job, know that GOD IS STILL GOING TO WORK IT OUT! More than likely, just as in our text, the job was not of the Lord to begin with and we are wasting our time in meaningless business instead of fulfilling true kingdom business! A job that was given by a king of this world may seem very important, but in the eyes of the King of Kings it may be irrelevant and will have us stop in the middle of it.

Don't worry about it just keep on going and know that God has a better work for you! Quit looking back! Quit complaining! Stop beating yourself up. What's done is done. In five years or even five months from now it really wouldn't make much difference.

The Unfinished Job!

Have you found yourself caught in the Sea of Regret because of the Unfinished Job? Would love to read your situation. Feel free to comment.
