Proverbs 16:3 "Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed."
As Easter quickly approaches; tweets, postings, fliers, ads are all over the place of many ministries preparing themselves to draw in the unchurched for the biggest day of the year in Christianity. Why the biggest day of the year in Christianity? Well because Easter is the Celebration of Jesus, the Son of God, dying on a cross for our sins, but more so Resurrecting on the third day to promise us eternal life for all who believe. Without Easter there is no Christianity! The gospel is Christ came, he died, and he rose again; take out any one of those points and we do not have the gospel.
Because this is the biggest day for Christianity, it's only right that the church does prepare and go all out in a spirit of excellence. Strengthening their leaders and volunteers. Organizing their ministries. Updating the decor in their sanctuaries and classrooms. Why? Because when you walk into a church that has it together, it shows the unchurched that maybe this place can help me get my life back together.
However, in the midst of all our actions and preparations it is very important that everything being done is committed to the Lord and for His glory. We can get caught up in the actions, but if they never were committed to the Lord then they won't succeed. Easter preparations are a reminder that even in our everyday life of preparing in the hustle and bustle of life we need to make sure that we commit our actions to the Lord.
Plans are good. Action is great. But both are meaningless and unsuccessful if not committed to the Lord. So how do we commit our actions to the Lord? Paul writes to the Philippians and tells them "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. (4:6)" We need to take our actions to prayer and God will see them through successfully. Not only do we need to pray, but we need to fast in order to feel the appetite for godliness in all that we are preparing for. Disciplining our bodies to submission unto the Lord.
How committed are you to seeing your plans succeed? Then commit your actions to the Lord! Pray! Fast! Press in! Allow your prayer to be that of Jesus, a Christ-Like attitude, a true Christian prayer "Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven"! (Matthew 6:10) Commit your actions to the Lord and He will make them succeed!
Prepare yourself!
Have you ever found yourself committing your plans to God and seeing your plans succeed?
